Amend law such that 14-17 year olds are legally defined as 'adolescent'.
Legislate that the British Legal system (defines only) persons 14 to 17 years old as an ADOLESCENT in line with the WHO (World Health organisation), AMCHP (Association of maternal and child health programs) and their definition of "middle adolescence" being 14-17 years, changing only the legal term.
Biologically, the capabilities of persons aged 14-17 are notably disparate to that of people under 14, given space for genetic/environmental variation. Subsequent to this, it would be advantageous toward developing confidence, emotional intelligence and assist in the perception of their societal postion i.e. they would gain recognition of their physiological and psychological potential.
The current use of the term 'child' is ambigious, potentially discouraging appropriate representation.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We're not sure what you'd like legal recognition of adolescents to require or involve.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
