Petition Action

Make it mandatory to label retouched photos in adverts, including social media.

Petition Details

To introduce a health warning on digitally altered images of the female body including size, shape and skin, in advertising.

Additional Information

Placement of warnings over digitally altered images will discourage companies from presenting unrealistic bodies to women &young girls.Research shows that the use of warning labels lessens some of the known negative effects of viewing media images that feature the thin ideal.France &Norway have warning labels on idealised media images to tell viewers that the images have been digitally altered to ameliorate the negative psychological effects of such images. It's time the UK shows its leadership.
