Give employees the right to work remotely when possible
Currently the employer has power to decide where work is carried out based on corporate judgement of corporate concerns; but, the ecology, wellbeing and economy of the country can benefit, especially for solely electronic work, if the employee had rights to decide where they do their work.
There is significant debate ongoing about remote working. The main concerns appear to be productivity, ecology and wellbeing. Looking to the future, if remote working is protected under employee law, the country could gain significant benefit in terms of electronic industry growth, ecology savings from reduced carbon footprint required for work and wellbeing benefits from better work-life balance.
Emerging from the pandemic, more remote working is in the best interest of the country.
