Start a National Service Scheme
Every year, 45,000 people aged 16 – 21 would be required to complete one year’s military service in the Royal Navy, army or R.A.F.
This year would consist of 6 months of training in a non-specialist role and 6 months of operational duties in the UK or abroad which will always include at least 4 weeks of leave and 2 weeks adventurous training.
People aged 16+ would be exempt from the national service scheme by volunteering for normal military service under the current system and can enter training for specialist roles as normal.
All national service scheme employees will be paid a basic wage of £50 per week for the entirety of their service but will receive free housing, food, travel and clothing vouchers.
