Social media companies to be held accountable for racially abusive posts

Petition Details

The Government should do more to require social media platforms to stop trolls posting racially motivated and abusive posts on social media sites. The posts from the aftermath of the Euro 2020 final should have no place in our society.

Additional Information

More robust measures must be imposed on social media companies that allow vile racially motivated posts to be posted. Social media platforms are not doing enough to stop vile posts being put on their sites and are taking too long to react to them. More stringent measures such as fines for companies that fail to deal with this abuse and ban trolls will incentivise the platforms to identify and hold those that post such comments accountable.
