Petition Details

Ensure that people working in social care roles are paid a decent living wage.

Additional Information

Currently people working in social care looking after the elderly and those with disabilities are paid around £7000 less than others in public sector roles despite sharing the same skill set. Many people working in social care after paying their bills often end up without the means to live a comfortable life yet will continue to do their jobs looking after vulnerable people.

Decisions about pay for people working in social care are a matter for individual employers, not the Government or House of Commons. As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
