Introduce online abuse standards that must be complied with to avoid big fines.
Impose significant penalties for online social media organisations that fail to introduce technological solutions to eradicate racial abuse online and at source. Mandate specific standards and controls (and required measures) and set these organisations with a target date to comply to them.
There is an acceptance that online racial abuse is something we just have to live with but these tech companies have the ability to introduce measures to monitor, eradicate and control posts at source (where they meet unacceptable criteria). Boycotting social media sites has not worked and there seems little appetite for ID verification when opening accounts (which would have been ideal) so this seems to be the next best option.
