Make LGBTQIA+ History mandatory in the primary/secondary national curriculum

Petition Details

Make sure LGBTQIA+ History is a subject taught in primary and secondary education. Topics may include the AIDs epidemic of the 1980s, Stonewall Riots and modern gay history including marriage rights of gay couples which are still restricted in some parts of the world.

Additional Information

Hate crimes have risen in the UK Education, especially on gay history, would help to allow students to empathise with and understand the LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual) community, thus reducing the risk of hate crimes. Hate usually appears from a lack of education and a misinformed perspective. Teaching LGBTQIA+ history in all schools will help therefore reduce the risk of hate crimes in the nation.
