Make public toilets free around the country
I am calling for councils across the country to eliminate the current payment required to access public toilets, by funding it themselves.
Public toilets are disproportionately used by women. Pregnant women, menstruating women, women with young children and women who have given birth are the primary users of public toilets.
Men do no use public toilets as often, as it is much easier for them to urinate out in public (like in a bush), without having to pay the fees to access public toilets. The practice of expecting the public to pay for toilets is inherently sexist and profits off women's natural body functions.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand you're concerned about the availability of public toilets, however the management, and any charges for the use, of public toilets are the responsibility of the relevant local authority, not the UK Government or Parliament.
You could have a petition calling on the Government to fund an increase in free public toilets around the country, if that is something you'd like to see happen.
