Lift hotel quarantine for NHS doctors returning to England from red list country
Thousands of NHS doctors have families in red list countries including Pakistan, India, Egypt and Sudan.
Despite the crucial role the NHS doctors have played during the pandemic, thousands have been deprived from seeing their family overseas due to the strict 10 day hotel quarantine rule.
Ethnic minorities represent more than 40% of NHS doctors.
According to NHS Workforce Statistics - March 2020:
Number and percentage of NHS medical staff by ethnicity:
Asian: %30.2 34,815
Mixed: %3.5 3,975
Other: %4.6 5,351
After being in the frontline fighting Covid for 18months, NHS doctors and their families deserve exemption from the 10days hotel quarantine on arrival in England from a red list country and should alternatively be allowed to quarantine at home and do the relevant tests
