Introduce a national Hate Crime Register for use by employers
The Government should introduce a national Hate Crime Register that captures the personal data of individuals found guilty of committing a hate crime.
Employers should then be legally required to consult the register when conducting basic recruitment/on-boarding checks. It should also be accessible to law enforcement.
There needs to be stronger checks and balances for people who commit racist abuse and all other forms of Hate Crimes. There are no safeguards to protect minorities and vulnerable people in the workplace. The register would allow employers to see if a potential employee had been guilty of an offence and take mitigating action to safeguard the workforce.
If an individual who has been convicted of a hate crime is working in education, law, hospitality or health, it’s vital we know who they are.
