Exempt workers paying tax/NI for 12 months from the immigration health surcharge
Immigrants in the UK has to pay for immigration health surcharge (IHS) as part of their immigration application.
Reform the IHS to exempt immigrants resident in the UK who work, pay income tax and national insurance at least in the 12 months preceding their immigration applications.
The immigration health surcharge IHS has increased for more than 200% since its introduction in 2015.
Traditionally, the NHS is funded from taxes and national insurance contributions. Most immigrants workers resident in the UK pay taxes and national insurance contributions, which are the primary source of funding for the NHS. Asking this category of immigrants who contribute much to the UK economy to pay IHS as part of their immigration application is unfair and unacceptable.
