Petition Action

Give us the right to sell digitally bought games

Petition Details

Give us the right to sell digitally bought games in the same way we can sell physical games. As when we buy a game on something like Steam it is then tied to are account and there is no way of selling it unlike when you buy a CD version of a game.

Additional Information

This is because when you buy something - not just games - you should have the right to sell it on once you've finished with it. As with everything else you buy physically like clothes and books, you can do what you choose with it, this should be the same with digital goods.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

Decisions about whether digital content can be resold are a matter for individual retailers and rights holders, not the Government or House of Commons.

As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
