Continue to fund School Crossing Patrol
Continue to fund the School Crossing Patrol
My son was hit by a car directly outside school gates. Had there been no crossing patrol to slow down the traffic, the car that hit my son would have been travelling faster and the consequences far greater.
School Crossing Patrol is a symbol of trust and safety for children (and parents relinquishing some independence to their older children walking to school) and it would be detrimental to every community to lose such a role who helps to keep our children safe. Please sign the petition to show your support against removing the School Crossing Patrol funding.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We are very sorry to hear about your son, but petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.
Decisions about providing funding for school crossing patrols are a matter for individual local authorities, not the Government or House of Commons.
You could raise this issue with a local councillor, who represents you. You can use this page to find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them: www.gov.uk/find-your-local-councillors
You can also petition your local council directly. Find out how to petition your council here: www.hants.gov.uk/aboutthecouncil/haveyoursay/petitions
