Petition Action

Have it be mandatory for clothing sizes to be the same in every store

Petition Details

I want the government to make it mandatory for all stores who sell clothing to have their sizes the same (I. E. a 16 in Primark should be the same as a 16 in M&S)

Additional Information

You believe that you're a certain size in majority of clothing stores but then visit a new store and try that size that you believe you are and see that you're too small, or that you're 2 sizes up, it can really affect your mental health.

Additionally, it would make it easier when ordering clothing online to know exactly what size you are and know that item of clothing that you're ordering is exactly the size that you want.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

Decisions about clothing sizes are a matter for indiviudal manufacturers and retailers, not the Government or House of Commons. As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
