Ensure full coverage of future Olympics is available on Free-To-Air TV channels
The government should do everything in it’s power to ensure that the Olympic Games are available to all UK residents via free-to-air TV channels. This could include lobbying the IOC, ensuring major UK broadcasters are supported financially and negotiating with host countries.
The Olympics and other international and national sporting events are highly influential in showcasing sport, inspiring people to take up sport and creating cohesion in society. They are of major cultural significance and should be freely available for all to watch. Inspiring healthy active lifestyles is very important in the UK and part of strategic preventive health. Viewing the delayed 2020 Olympics has been severely affected by the licensing arrangements made for these games.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.
The Olympic Games are already listed as an event of national importance, which means that when they are held in the UK they must be made available on “fair and reasonable terms” to the free-to-air channels, but decisions about broadcasting of sporting events held outside of the UK are a matter for the organisers and individual broadcasters, not the Government or House of Commons.
As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
