Add first aid for anaphylaxis to the secondary school national curriculum
Having an allergy that can lead to anaphylaxis is extremely stressful & worrying for children and their parents. Requiring secondary schools to teach first aid on how to recognise and respond to anaphylaxis would help put many children and parents at ease.
Anaphylaxis is severe and potentially life threatening & can be a life or death situation for a person suffering a reaction, awareness is key. Pupils are likely to be around their peers more than a teacher so the obvious solution would be teach all pupils to recognise the signs & know what to do it could save a life.
Education into recognising the signs & symptoms of anaphylaxis & knowing how to administer an adrenaline auto-injector could help save lives.
