Make it a criminal offence for Travellers to camp on any land without permission
The police need to be given more power to prosecute people who camp on land without permission. Also there should be redress for the owners of the land to cover and damage and cleanup costs.
The Government has washed its hands on the issue and passed the problem onto local councils. However the problem is nationwide and should be dealt with by the Government. These travellers move onto a piece of land and the owner or council has to go to the courts to get eviction orders. Then once the travellers have left the owner or council has to pay the cost of removing rubbish, including the human waste that has been dumped. Yet there is no penalty to these tresspassers.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government has introduced legislation to create a new offence for England and Wales and an accompanying power for the police to seize property (including vehicles) where individuals reside or intend to reside on land with a vehicle.
