Move Bangladesh from red list to amber, so people can return to the UK
Please remove Bangladesh from red list, that necessitates hotel quarantine for all arrivals, at a cost of £1,750, rising to £2,285 from 12 August.
Bangladesh's 14-day notification rates for cases per 100000 is 96.8; Thailand’s rates is 312.5. Thailand is in amber list, however Bangladesh is in red.
Thousands of British people are stuck in Bangladesh, as they cannot travel back to the UK due to compulsory and expensive hotel quarantine.
According to data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), many amber list countries' rate of Covid cases per 100,000 residents over the past 14 days (as of 1 August 2021) is much higher than Bangladesh. Hence, it is not fair and the Government should remove Bangladesh from red lis immediately.
