Petition Action

Mental ill health waiting times

Additional Information

This petition calls on the government to apply the same 18 week waiting time for treatment for mental illnesses as applies to physical illnesses. At present, people can wait for over a year or be told there is no service for their problem. This discriminatory practice must stop and funding should be agreed to ensure equity between physical and mental health services.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

Please see: Commit to a deadline for when mental health problems will see a maximum timeframe for treatment enforced.
