Require mobile telephone service providers to continue free EU wide roaming
Parliament should introduce legislation to require mobile telephone service providers to continue allowing EU wide roaming at no extra charge.
Following the UK’s exit from the European Union all the major service providers gave assurances that they would not be looking to introduce roaming charges for UK customers travelling within the EU.
Now two providers, EE and Vodafone have stated their intention to reintroduce these roaming charges.
The government must take immediate action to ensure that UK customers are not put at a financial disadvantage.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.
Decisions about imposing a surcharge on UK consumers travelling abroad to the EU are a matter for individual mobile operators, not the Government or House of Commons.
As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
