Stop the exploration of the Cambo oilfield
The UK government needs to intervene urgently and stop further exploration and the extraction of oil in the Cambo oil field. Now is the time to take climate change serious and act decisively.
Climate change is one the biggest threats to humanity. The UK is hosting this years climate summit COP26 and the UK government has repeatedly expressed it's commitment to tackle CO2 emissions. The recently published IPCC report urges immediate action to prevent the worst effects of climate change.
The UK government has recently decided to bar new licenses for oil exploration, but is in the process of allowing explorations in the Cambo oilfield based on a licence granted in 2001.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Consent to proceed to production at Cambo filed will be a matter for the UK's regulators, the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA), and the Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning (OPRED), following their standard regulatory processes.
