Enhance the care women receive at their 6 week postpartum check up
Women should be entitled to a thorough examination from an experienced women's health specialist at their 6 week postpartum check up. This should include a pelvic floor examination and to be checked for diastasis recti and issued with relevant exercises to repair and restore any issues.
Women are returning to fitness 6 weeks after birth under the assumption that they are fit enough after having a brief conversation with their practice nurse and no thorough examination. These women are not being checked for pelvic floor complications or for diastasis and are then experiencing long term implications as a result. Prolapse and diastasis are serious issues and specialist help, guidance and support should be given to all women after childbirth. This needs to change!

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.
Decisions about clinical care for new mothers are a matter for the NHS and individual clinicians, not the Government or House of Commons. As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
We could accept a petition calling on the Government to review postnatal services for new mothers, if that's something you would like to happen.
