Under18s to isolate still if they have close contact of a positive COVID-19 case
The Government has announced from 16 August 2021, children under 18 years old will no longer be required to self-isolate if they have a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case. Adult staff members of nurseries, schools and colleges who have not yet been vaccinated will be put at risk from this.
Adults may not have been vaccinated due to personal reasons or health issues where they are unable to be vaccinated. Children mixing with others after being in close contact with a positive case is clear that the cases will spread more due to not isolating anymore, not only amongst children but also staff who would be putting their lives at risk whilst looking after positive case close contacts children. Especially in close contact environments like nurseries and other young childcare settings.
