Petition Action

Bring 10,000 Afghani girls to have sanctuary and be educated in the UK.

Petition Details

Like the kinder transport, the UK should offer sanctuary for (at least) 10,000 girls from Afghanistan. Families to ‘host’ girls to ensure they receive an education, safety and their fundamental human rights. Government to sponsor travel for these girls and to be issued British citizenship.

Additional Information

The perilous situation in Afghanistan is diminishing any equality and progress made for women - the Taliban will regress its female population to a patriarch pre-medieval regime. We are duty bound to do something that will challenge this and change the life chances for these girls and protect their human rights. Forced marriages, killings, rape, prohibition from education have already ensued in newly established Taliban regions. We must protect the daughters of Afghanistan.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Home Office announced on 18 August 2021 a bespoke resettlement route for Afghan refugees who have been forced to flee the country. The aim is to resettle 5,000 Afghan nationals in the first year of the scheme, and up to 20,000 people in the long-term. You can read more about it on the gov.uk website: www.gov.uk/government/news/bespoke-resettlement-route-for-afghan-refugees-announced
