Increase funding for eating disorder treatment and specialist hospitals
The Government needs to increase funding to create more specialist hospitals and day care centers for eating disorder patients and to support their recovery. In many areas there are no beds and a backlog of referrals for people in urgent need.
The number of referrals for eating disorders has increased dramatically for young people during the pandemic. Therefore, the UK Government needs to manage this appropriately after putting everyone into lockdown. This should include funding to substantially improve current services, increase numbers of community clinicians, and create more beds/hospitals/centers.
