Legalize wearing body cams for staff working in Emergency Departments
Legalize healthcare staff working in unsafe environments like Emergency Departments to wear body cams for their protection and evidence.
Health care professionals in the ED are in a high pressure work environment and often get assaulted by patients/families or visitors verbally or physically
As health professsionals working in a volatile environment, we are subjected to a wide variety of risks, including violence from patients, family members or visitors
It is often difficult to establish the events due to lack of evidence and the existing cctv cameras donot cover most areas and have blind spots.
Allowing staff in the ED to wear body cams would empower them and reduce the incidences of violence and also serve as evidence for future investigations

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you are concerned about protection of healthcare workers, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. It isn't illegal for healthcare workers to wear body cameras, and the Government has piloted rolling out body cameras to paramedics: www.gov.uk/government/news/paramedics-to-be-given-body-cameras-to-protect-them-from-abuse
If you want the Government to rollout body cameras to all healthcare workers, we could accept a petition requesting that.
