Petition Action

Take over a council tenancy when parents pass away.

Petition Details

I would like the govenment to make it more possible and easier for a family member living with a parent or parents in a council property to take over the tenancy when the parent or both parents pass away.

Additional Information

I want this done because My Mother and father had a joint tenancy agreement from the local council. They moved in in 1977 and raised 7 children in this family home. My Mother has since passed away in 2014 and shortly after my father was ill so I moved in with him in 2018 become his main carer. Now sadly my father has passed away, but my name is down as a family member living at the property as this is my main home the council now intend to end my dad's tenancy and apply to take the house back
