Deploy military resources to ensure the safety of Afghans who served the UK
The first thing the UK should do is deploy all military resources available to bring to the UK all those Afghans who risked their lives and their families' lives for years by supporting UK's strategy in Afghanistan.
We have a moral obligation to save people who served our interests and whom the Taliban is hunting down by going door to door.
UK's credibility and reputation in the world will be greatly tarnished by this sudden pull-out.
Terrorist groups around the world will take comfort in this and in the long run the withdrawal will have dire consequences not just for Afghanistan but for us in the West.
