Petition Action

More robust, stringent checks by Companies House

Petition Details

The Government need to adapt and adopt a more robust applications process for a directorship of a Ltd company. There is an ever increasing rise of rogue traders abusing the system and hiding behind a company name having no accountability personally for distress and hardshipthey inflict on the public

Additional Information

I have been swindled by a builder who abused his position as a director of a Ltd company, taking thousands of my savings. He deliberately abused the system at every level. He continued to trade with a different company name knowing that he could personally not be made accountable. This trader has criminal convictions and has served custodial sentences for fraud. Where is the protection by our government for citizens of this country. He has since set up a new company - again!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about checks for limited companies, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
