Petition Action

Stop charging Income Tax and National Insurance on tips in hospitality

Petition Details

Stop charging Income Tax and National Insurance payments on gratituity payments to Hospitality staff as we already pay tax and NI on our pay and tips are used to top up our already low wages.

Additional Information

After a paticularly hard year and a half, hospitality staff are already paying tax on low wages and are losing out on tips given to them. Wages in the hospitality sector are generally low and tips are given to us to top up our wages. Taxing our tips as a ‘second income’ is unfair as it is income from the same employment.
