Prosecute social workers who abuse children in care.
Update the statutory guidance for social workers to give clear boundaries about how they should treat their looked after children, including strict guidelines on what they should say to vulnerable children and ensuring their are not subject to neglect nor sexual and physical abuse by their carers.
I know of lots of instances of children turning up a contact with cuts and bruises caused while in care. I also have personal experience of an autistic child being traumatized by what he was told by a social worker, that he can never return home to his mother, despite being aged 10 years.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Child abuse, whether committed by a social worker or other person, is already an offence. Decisions about investigating alleged offences and prosecuting these are a matter for the police and Crown Prosecution Service, not the Government or House of Commons.
If you’re worried that a child or young person is at risk or is being abused you can find out how to report this here: www.gov.uk/report-child-abuse
The Government has published a guide on inter-agency working to
safeguard and promote the welfare of children, and while we could accept petitions calling for changes to this guide, it would need to be cleassets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/942454/Working_together_to_safeguard_children_inter_agency_guidance.pdfar what changes you wanted:
