Petition Details

Stop sending judges to Hong Kong as non-permanent judges in any levels of courts

Additional Information

After the implementation of HK National Security Law, there are many cases which haven't followed the basic concept of Common Law, guilty without reasonable doubt or innocent before proven guilty. A lot of people have been arrested politically without solid evidence where the court refuse for bail. Sending judges to HK effectively means UK judges agree to these breach.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions must call for a specific action that the UK Government or House of Commons is responsible for.

Decisions about whether British judges sit on Hong Kong's Court of Final Appeal are a matter for the judiciary, which is independent of the Government and House of Commons.

As a result it is not possible for the Government or House of Commons to take the action you have requested.
