Prison only for violent offenders of those who cause physical harm or risk of physical harm to others

Additional Information

Prison places only to be used for violent offenders and those who cause physical harm to others, or *risk causing physical harm to others.

With the prison population on the increase, places should be freed up to accommodate all people who cause a physical risk to others, by giving community based and financial punishments to those who do not.

This would allow the country to become allot more of a safe place with people not being fearful for their safety.

If the prison service could free up thousands of places and all those people who carry knives are caught and taken of the streets for rehabilitation, and those who physically try to intimidate others, this would be a far more beneficial use of prison places, to the population as a whole, locking up people who pose a physical treat to others in society not those who do not.
