Petition Action

Do not raise National Insurance contributions to pay for the care home system

Petition Details

The government should make a guarantee that they will not raise taxes, VAT or National Insurance contributions.

Additional Information

People of working age are under increased financial strain due to the uncertain economic outlook at present. The current driver shortage will also raise cost of living in the coming months.

An increase in National Insurance at this time would not be beneficial for the cost of living for working households and not support the events, hospitality and retail industries which have suffered a great deal during the pandemic.

The 2019 manifesto included an assurance not to raise taxes or National Insurance contributions and to do this would be damaging to many households as well as businesses.
