Petition Action

Give the UK Supreme Court the power to judicially review primary legislation.

Petition Details

I want the Government to give the Supreme Court the power it should have, by allowing it to judicially review any legislation, and allow in such circumstances, an application for this relief to be brought directly to the Supreme Court, giving it original jurisdiction over such matters.

Additional Information

The UK Supreme Court is one of the only Supreme Courts in the world which does not have the power to be able to strike down legislation when it is unconstitutional, yet has the power to 'quash' secondary legislation. In this day of age, there must be power to either judicially review all legislation or no legislation at all. It is a fundamental constitutional right to every citizen of this country to challenge, what they believe an act by the Government to be unconstitutional.
