Grant Category D (PSV) licence holders automatic Category C1 (7.5t) entitlement
Automatically provide Category D licence holders with Category C1 (7.5t) entitlement
Category D licence holders have taken extensive training and tests to gain the licence and are able to drive any bus with the weight far exceeding 7.5t and length far exceeding that of a 7.5t lorry therefore automatic Category C1 entitlement should be granted to Category D licence holders. This could also help with the national HGV driver shortage as current C1 drivers with experience move to take the revised HGV test.
