Education in schools on sunscreen & why it is essential.
It takes a huge amount of hospital staff to look after you if you get skin cancer. I have just gone through removal of a melanoma.
This could of been avoided had I been aware of skin cancer dangers. Myself and lots of other people grow up uneducated as to why sunscreen is essential.
I would like the UK to be more like Australia and New Zealand.
Children need to be protected and explained the dangers of sun exposure so they can pass on to their children.
More warnings on sunscreen bottles and people better educated as to why you need sunscreen rather than you it will stop you from burning.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Primary schools in England are already required by law to teach their pupils about "about safe and unsafe exposure to the sun, and how to reduce the risk of sun damage, including skin cancer".
You can find out more about the Health Education curriculum here: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/908013/Relationships_Education__Relationships_and_Sex_Education__RSE__and_Health_Education.pdf
If there was some specific change you would like to see made to the national curriculum relating to sun damage, you could start a petition about that.
