Bring back the B+E car and trailer test or ensure mandatory training is required
In the interests of Road safety it is imperative that new drivers have additional test or at the very least mandatory training prior to being allowed to tow large heavy trailers on public roads, Towing a trailer safely requires knowledge gained from adequate training that isn't taught on a car test.
As the government have just announced the removal of an additional test requirement to tow large trailers upto 3500 kg and potentially 7 metres long without mandatory training this will lead to an increase in accidents plus potentially fatalities due to many that will not seek training or guidance before venturing out on their own.
Ensuring a trailer is correctly coupled and loaded to ensure stability is essential to competent use for public safety.
Training gives knowledge when things go wrong
