Make pre-marital asset protection part of family law
We ask the Government to change marital law to safeguard assets held ahead of marriage. Currently there is no automatic recognition of an individual's financial situation prior to marriage or civil partnership; prenuptial agreements are not commonplace and the Courts are not obliged to follow them.
No-one enters into a union expecting it to break up, yet one third of them do, with many individuals losing family contributions and savings generated before marriage. This change in law will protect families by allowing parents to make financial sacrifices to help their children and will encourage individuals to further their education, careers & business without fear of later loss.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
