Petition Action

Make the media accountable for sharing ‘fake news’ and causing panic

Petition Details

Accountability needs to be imposed on the press in order to stop cascade panic reactions. Sky’s ‘Breaking News’ app has this week told millions of people, mid working day, that there was a massive fuel issue. This has resulted in panic buying and has affected emergency services.

Additional Information

I want the UK Government to ensure the media and press in the UK returns to impartial, factual news reporting to ensure people do not unnecessarily panic. The panic buying of Covid lockdowns, the current fuel situation can all be traced to the media chasing clicks and views. Enough is enough - Hold them to account.
