DVLA SHOULD PRIORITISE HGV APPLICATIONS.
The Government need to use the fastest route to decrease the shortfall in HGV Drivers.
The best way to do this is for the DVLA to Prioritise HGV applications so they can get back on the road.
With the current National Shortfall in HGV drivers the DVLA should be enforced to process all HGV applications as a Priority.
This should include newly qualified drivers, drivers who are returning to the Industry and need their Vocational entitlement reinstated, drivers renewing their License and those applying after a Medical.
There have been many Statements from Parliament about how they are dealing with the shortage but none of them suggest processing applications faster.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The scheduling and processing of driving licence applications are an operational matter for the DVLA, not the UK Government or Parliament.
In case it's helpful, you might like to know that the Government has announced plans to support more people to become HGV drivers.
