Exempt newly self-employed earning under £35k from tax for 2020-21

Petition Details

Give those who became self-employed between April ‘19 & April ‘21 a tax break to allow them to recover the financial loss of Covid-19. Many received no financial support, resulting in a double hit to their finances. Only applicable to self-assessment tax return in April 2021 earnings below £35k.

Additional Information

I was self-employed from 2010 - April 2019, became full-time directly employed between April 2019 - December 2019. In November 2019 I took out further borrowing on my mortgage to fund home improvements. In December 2019 I was made redundant. In early 2020 I returned to self-employment, then Covid lockdown hit before home improvement. I couldn’t go out to work (travelling sales & research). I didn't receive any financial support.
