Music into the Ebacc
Music GCSE should be included in the Ebacc as it is a 'sufficiently rigorous' course. These seem to be the criteria for inclusion in the Ebacc.
Performing - discipline to practise independently and then perform under pressure.
Composition - Composing according to a brief in a particular style/genre, applying knowledge from set works
Set works - studying 12 pieces of Music in depth, similar to studying poetry/novels in English Literature. Students have to listen to these in the exam and answer questions, including as essay question.
