That the UK makes a greater effort to eliminate Child Poverty.
We call on our government to look afresh at how this country can support children through the tax and benefits systems, especially in light of the recent changes to Universal Tax Credit.
At the Synod of the Moravian Church in Great Britain and Ireland, a Resolution was passed to demand that the UK Parliament makes a greater effort to eliminate Child Poverty. Research by the Child Poverty Action Group, shows that in 2019-20 there were 4.3 million children living in poverty in the UK. The Office for National Statistics shows that poverty can have a serious impact on a child’s life chances, and from experiences gained by our churches and members serving their communities.
