Pay politicians in line with the highest paid in the private sector.
I want the salary for politicians to match the average for executives within the private sector.
Politicians used not to be paid which excluded those not wealthy. This was changed to ensure the average person was able to be a politician. Now politicians are vilified and any pay rise is controversial. This means there is a powerful disincentive to going into politics. We need the brightest and best working for us and representing us as MPs, so we should have the freedom to pay the rate to get that.
