Make drink spiking a specific, notifiable criminal offence
Drink spiking appears to be prevalent in the UK. This disgusting crime is committed in pubs, clubs, festivals and house parties, and is often not reported to the police. Making drink spiking a specific, notifiable criminal offence should help reveal the true extent of this crime.
Because drink spiking is not a specific criminal offence, it is recorded by police forces under a range of criminal offences, such as Administering poison endangering life - Sexual Offences Act 2003 Sec - Administering a substance with intent.
Because drink spiking is not a specific, notifiable offence, data on drink spiking cannot be retrieved from a central location. This means it is extremely challenging to identify reported cases of drink spiking.
