Ban a Longer Teaching Day
A longer teaching day is detrimental to the health and well being of teachers and pupils alike.
Teachers work many extra hours with revision classes, extra curricular activities and an ever increasing marking/work load.
Pupils are at risk of burn out and behaviour will deteriorate. Parents will take more children out of school for holidays to compensate.
If it is such a good idea, why then don't private schools run the same timetable already? They have a slightly longer day and generally extra curricular activities on Saturday Mornings, but MORE holidays to compensate. Their results are better because they have smaller classes!
Standards will drop not rise.
