Petition Action

Stop turning a blind eye to ‘bad apples’ working in our public services

Petition Details

Everyone on the frontline knows who the ‘bad apples’ are.

Government have a duty to proactively find those who abuse their position in our public services.

This can be done with an anonymous platform for employees to raise red flags about bullying, misconduct and inappropriate behaviour.

Additional Information

‘Bad apples’ are detectable and preventable. Left unchecked they harm colleagues, members of the public and perception of whole organisations.

The anonymous reporting would shatter the culture of silence to make the invisible visible and enable investigation once a threshold of reports about an individual is met.

Please sign if you have witnessed or experienced bullying, misconduct or inappropriate behaviour in the workplace to show the extent of the issue and push for active zero tolerance

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you are concerned about the conduct of certain public sector workers, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

Additionally, the Government is responsible for the conduct of people employed directly by the Government, but managing employees of other public bodies is a matter for their employer, not the Government or House of Commons.
