Petition Action

Create a Security Workers Act

Petition Details

We want SIA licenced staff working on the front line to be recognised in law in a similar way to the Assaults on Emergency workers Act, but covering those with a current SIA licence and working in the field of security.

Additional Information

The UK’s security workers put their lives on the line everyday, just like police, fire and NHS personnel, They deserve the same recognition in law.

A survey of 1224 people found that 36% of those working in security were physically attacked on a monthly basis and 26% more frequently (weekly)

So, why is assault against other front line workers - such as Door supervisors and security staff working in retail - not recognised in the same way as it is for emergency workers?
